Atlantic Truck Center began in 1979 as Coastal Ford Truck Sales, Inc. in Fort Lauderdale. It was solely owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, and was assigned to the Fort Lauderdale market as medium/heavy-duty truck center. In 1990, the name was changed to Atlantic Ford Truck Sales, Inc., and when Ford sold its heavy truck assets to Sterling in 1997, the name Atlantic Truck Center was adopted.

In November of 2005, ownership changed hands with the vision to grow and expand in the South Florida market. The buildings in Miami, Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach were acquired. The new Dealer Principal Philip S. Maas, has over 37 years of experience in dealership management and currently enjoys the ownership of 8 dealerships across the United States. A brief history of Sprinter Vans in North America

In 1998 the Mercedes-Benz parent company, Daimler-Benz, merged with (some would say bought) Chrysler and DaimlerChrysler was formed.

Three years before the merger, Daimler launched the highly successful Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van in Europe. The Sprinter Van came to America in 2001, while Daimler and Chrysler were still one, and began distributing it through their commercial Freightliner nameplate. The first generation North American Sprinter Van was launched in 2001 in the U.S. and originally branded as a Freightliner. Atlantic Truck Center was one of the original Sprinter Van dealers in the United States. Units sold to the rest of North America were badged as Mercedes Sprinter Van until 2004 when they reached a distribution agreement with Chrysler and began selling Sprinter Vans through Dodge dealers in the United States. The Dodge Sprinter Van was the same as the Freightliner Sprinter Van and the Mercedes Sprinter Van with the exception of badging. In 2003 a Dodge Sprinter Van version was introduced. All are essentially the same van. The Sprinter is primarily a commercial van with multiple versions including passenger van, cargo van, can and chassis, and minibus, although RV conversion Sprinter Vans are available.

The Daimler distribution agreement with Dodge to distribute Sprinter Vans ended in 2009 and beginning in 2010 distribution transitioned to select Mercedes and Freightliner dealers.
